To preserve optimum balance and maintain control in all difficult driving situations, the Peugeot 308 comes with a complete braking system that combines several functions:

  • Electronic Stability Programme (ESP®), with traction control system (ASR), controls the brakes and the engine management to minimise skidding.
  • Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) constantly compares information transmitted from the steering wheel sensor and yaw-rate sensor to detect any potential understeer or oversteer. It then returns your 308 SW to its initial trajectory, as far as possible.
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps you to gain better control over skidding caused by emergency braking.
  • Electronic Brake-force Distribution manages individual braking wheels for more effective braking, particularly around bends.
  • Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA) increases the effectiveness of your braking, if necessary.
  • The direct tyre under-inflation detection identifies the problematic wheel with two warning levels: under-inflation or puncture.

This intelligent traction control system brings new functionality to conventional traction control. It detects situations of precarious grip that could make movement on icy or low-grip conditions difficult. The system also takes the place of the ASR, reducing wheel skid for good traction so as to maintain the original trajectory.

The new Peugeot 308 SW offers several measures for maximum safety. In addition to high road holding, its sturdy structure can withstand and absorb the energy from front and side impacts. This is further enhanced by intelligent restraining systems.

The new Peugeot 308 SW has 6 airbags:

  • 2 front airbags protect the heads and chests of both driver and passenger in the event of a front impact.
  • 2 side airbags protect the driver and front passenger in the event of a side impact.
  • 2 curtain airbags protect the heads of front and rear occupants.
