New Peugeot 5008 BlueHDi

The new Peugeot 5008: A family's dream

[16 March 2016, Wednesday]

Most families compromise on style and comfort factors when it comes to owning an MPV, as long as the MPV is of reasonable fuel consumption and has the basic ability to transport the entire family safely from a destination to another. However, Peugeot has always believed that a driver and its passengers should never disregard style, comfort and driving pleasure which they rightfully deserve. With that in mind, Peugeot is proud to introduce yet another of their newest addition in the diesel family – Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV.

Modern yet safe

With the aim to set new benchmarks in the market for this category, the Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi MPV is equipped with a wide cabin, wraparound cockpit, high-set seat and low window line, providing its driver excellent visibility and security. What’s more, with the strong ergonomics in place, the electric parking brake and dashboard controls are raised to provide a driving position which offers the driver good control and comfort while retaining the sense of dominating the road.

The Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV gives drivers the ultimate pleasure on the road with its excellent ride and road-handling. That is because the low body style lowers the centre of gravity and reduces roll, while the nose is made of lightweight materials (Aluminum bonnet and Noryl composite fenders) that makes its handling more balanced.

The 5008 diesel engine MPV also features comprehensive safety equipment. To name a few from the extensive list; Emergency Brake Assist, Auto Hazard Lights Warning, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, six air bags (front, side and curtain), automatic-release electric parking brake, 3-Front Impact Absorption Structures and 3 ISOFIX child seat mountings on centre row seats.

As safety is of paramount importance, drivers will also be happy to know that the Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV is equipped with reinforcement bars and impact absorbers in the front doors to protect the driver and its passenger in the event of a collision.

Fuel and environment friendly

Just like the siblings in the Peugeot diesel family, Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV is running on the 1.6 litre BlueHDi Turbo diesel engine. Equipped with an engine power of 112 bhp, maximum torque of 270 Nm at 1,750rpm and fuel consumption of 20.8km/litre (4.8 litres/100 km in EC Combined Cycle), this 6-speed EGC people carrier is sure to surprise with its unique blend of effortless performance & low running costs.

Also, with the marque’s Micro Hybrid Stop & Start system integrated in all 1.6 BlueHDi diesel configurations, efficiency and emissions are improved by 15%, leaving CO₂ emission to a low 125g/km, qualifying for $10,000 CEVS rebate.  Therefore, owning a Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV is as good as playing a part in eco-friendliness while having a great time with the family.

Interior and Exterior Excitement

Just when you thought you’ve seen or heard it all about the revamped Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV, Peugeot shifts its focus from driver to passengers next.

Panoramic Glass Roof

Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV has one of the largest panoramic glass roof (1.69 m2) in the Peugeot range, giving passengers a bright interior and an exceptional view of the outside. Spaciousness is definitely no understatement when it comes to describing the interior of the 5008 diesel range, as special attention is focused on the rear to optimize capacity both in terms of headroom and interior width.

Multi-Flex Interior

If your passengers would like to lounge in the back seats, there are a dozen seating and storage configurations, giving comfort in terms of space. The front passenger seat is another added flexibility, enabling a maximum load length of 2.76m, with rear seats folded – perfect for active families wanting to transport bags, DIY furniture, bikes, golf clubs and even surf boards.

The second row comprises three seats of equal width, which can be adjusted lengthwise and feature reclining seat backs for optimal comfort. It also has the option of folding individually into the passenger compartment floor to form a perfectly flat surface, perfectly aligned with the rear loading sill.

Placing the convenience of the occupants of the third row seats into consideration, the positioning of the second row outer seats are designed to allow easy access.  In one easy movement, the seat cushion lifts and seat back moves forward, freeing up the maximum space for passengers who wish to get onboard the last row of seats.

Spacious Boot Space

One of the key features of the Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV – A large boot capacity of 823 litres (5 seater mode) to 2506 litres (2 seater mode). Families can take advantage of the large boot volume that is apparent in the 5008. Also, the many storage spaces, totaling 48 litres on both sides of the passenger compartment can easily accommodate the different requirements of your passengers.

Peugeot 5008 1.6 BlueHDi EGC MPV is an all-rounder 7-seater MPV that caters to a family’s every need which shouts style, comfort, luxury, fuel and environment friendly at the same time. Now, that’s what we call a perfect vehicle fit for a family.

Euro 6 BlueHDi: the most efficient clean Diesel technology on the market

With BlueHDi, PEUGEOT has been using the most efficient emissions control technology on the market to equip its new generation of turbo diesel engines and once again is ahead of the emissions control standard. The 5008 1.6L BlueHDi 120hp is characterised by torquey driving pleasure (300Nm@1750rpm) and low fuel consumption.

Paired with the Aisin 6-speed automatic EAT6 gearbox (Efficient Automatic Transmission 6-speed), the 5008 achieves a class leading 25.6km per litre (3.9 litres per 100 km on EC combined cycle). SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) is already the most efficient NOx after-treatment technology on the market. Furthermore, its unique location in advance of the additive-treatment FAP (particulate filter) on PEUGEOT vehicles is the only one which, due to early stage priming of the SCR, assists with the reduction of NOx (nitrogen oxides) by up to 90% and removal of 99.9% of particulates, including the very finest.

At the same time, this highly efficient method of reducing the NOx assists with optimising emissions of CO2 and reducing engine fuel consumption by up to 4% in comparison with EURO 5 engines, via a combustion chamber and dedicated "CO2" adjustment. Locating the SCR in advance of the additive-treatment FAP (particulate filter) is made possible by the ability of the additive-treatment FAP to regenerate at much lower temperatures than other types of FAP technology used by our competitors.

It now has the Stop&Start system by heavy-duty starter motor (STTd) and 17” energy saving tyres to enhance fuel consumption.
