A STYLISH VICTORY

PEUGEOT STUNS WITH TOP TWO SPOTS IN GRUELLING 12 HOURS OF SEBRING

It was as expected. Masterful continental engineering and durability won the day at the 12-hour endurance race.

What less expected, however, was the source of that excellence: Peugeot of France, and not a German team.

Alexander Wurz, Marc Gene and Anthony Davidson propelled Peugeot to its first victory in the renowned 12 Hours of Sebring. They drive the diesel-powered Peugeot 908 HDi FAP to a 13.817-second victory over their sister Peugeot driven by Sebastien Bourdais, Nicolas Minassian and Pedro Lamy. Both Peugeots completed 367 laps on the road course.

This was also the first-ever win for a French car in this American race and puts to end 11 whole years of German domination.

At the head of the pack, the two Peugeot 908 HDi FAPs were never separated by more than a handful of seconds, despite the searing heat, omnipresent traffic, safety car appearnaces and race accidents. Nor were they slowed by the slightest mechanical problem.

Perfectly summing up Peugeot's strength in durability was Olivier Quesnel, Director of Peugeot Sports. He said: "Reliability promises to play a key role... the two 908 HDi FAPs ran like clockwork here..."

Peugeots has long been known for their stylish design. This win proves that they also boast of quality engineering and reliability.

Whoever said beauty never lasts?
